Heralds of Spring - Daily Photo 59/365

Having been born without a green thumb you must ALWAYS double-check the name of any plant that I've attempted to identify.

Today brought our first blossoms of spring - hyacinth.  The storms that moved through this morning kicked up a lot of mud onto the flowers so while they may not be pristine they're definitely real.

Bradford Pear - Daily Photo 58/365

Storms Friday night and worse ones predicted for tonight but today the sun broke through a couple times and the temperature reached a wonderful 74 degrees.  Spring is only three weeks away but I think the Bradford Pear trees are perhaps jumping the gun.

Dog - Daily Photo 57/365

This morning was gorgeous - sunny & mild - a perfect day to be outdoors.  The neighbor's dog felt the same.  He/She was playing in the back yard, giving me an unusual [for me] photo op.  As soon as I started pressing the shutter this beautiful animal stopped and posed for me.  I really wanted he/she to move away from the fence so that the hind legs weren't hidden but there was little movement until I put my camera away.

While I appreciate animals I'm not considered an animal lover thus I photograph them rarely and we all know that practice makes perfect.    Even though these aren't the best images I've captured they're not horrible either.

Supper - Daily Photo 55/365

Pasta with home-made spaghetti sauce and garlic bread sticks, but my favorite is the cooked baby carrots.

What I'm Listening To - Daily Photo 54/365

How does one edit photos and read a book simultaneously?  By making certain the book is an audio edition of course.

Mosaic Floors - Daily Photo 53/365

The vivid colors of the mosaic floors in the Orlando Airport came alive under the sun shining through the skylights.

Universal Orlando - Daily Photo 52/365

There's no explanation for it but we actually chose to spend this past Monday at the Universal Orlando Resort.  What were we thinking?!

As evidenced in the picture below - The Adventure Begins.

My inability to identify this tree or its blossoms in no way prevented me from appreciating the beauty.

Our first ride was in Jurassic Park - a rather bland ride but then my interest in dinosaurs & all things prehistoric is next to nothing.  Nowhere on the ride's sign was there any indication that we could get wet so cameras, glasses and phones were not protected.  At the end of the ride we were soaked and even my phone got wet.  Fortunately I was able to dry it off quickly and my camera was securely enclosed in the camera bag.  Realizing that my electronics were undamaged allowed me to appreciate the dowsing we'd experienced.  It was a warm sunny day so being wet wasn't too uncomfortable.

We're not in the picture below but this is the rush of water at the end of someone else's ride and it's an accurate portrayal of what happened to us.

The park had so many beautiful flowers.

One last look before heading to the car.  It was a long exhausting day but it was fun too.

Central FL Flora - Daily Photo 51/365

My DH and his brother went to the Daytona 500 race on Sunday and had a great time.  The race was exciting and the weather was perfect.  The down side was that the concession stands ran out of hot dogs & hamburgers!

For me the day was perfect because I did NOT go to the race.  I got to spend the day strolling around taking pictures then fitting in a nap.  Now that's a vacation.

Cocoa Beach - Daily Photo 50/365

Last Saturday we got to stroll along Cocoa Beach.  The day was beautiful and the beach was full.  Only the brave ventured into the cold water (I think they said it was less than 65 degrees).  It was an afternoon full of photo opportunities.

This little boy exuded such joy, I couldn't resist snapping a quick shot.

It's difficult for me to understand why they wanted to surf - cold water & small waves add up to "no surfing" in my book.

We even got to see a mermaid.

The pier has such character.

He perched proudly, even arrogantly, on the rail at the end of the pier, completely unaffected by the people.

Susie R, I thought of you as I captured several images of this proud bird.  He (?) actually seemed to stare into the cameral as I was clicking away.

She looks to have found a shell as she was digging in the sand, holding it up for a better look.

A feather etched into the sand.

A sibling stroll into the water.

Returning - Daily Photo 49/365

As promised I continued to capture daily images and now that I again have access to my editing software I'm playing catch up.

This is the image from Friday, February 18th.

We are experiencing a delay...

I'm going to be without my photo editing software for a few days so there will not be any daily photos posted during this time.  But...I will continue to capture the daily images and get them posted as soon as I can.  This doesn't make me happy because I'm really rather proud of myself for having succeeded in taking and posting a pic each day so far this year.  I shall return!

Amazing Artwork - Daily Photo 48/365

It's actually been a couple years since thepieces in the next two images were created but I love them and even have them hanging in my living room.  They have color and texture and you can see all sorts of things in them - a little like looking at clouds.  Unfortunately I can't remember who made which one so each piece is credited to both Amazing One I & Amazing One II.

This one is mine, not as creative as the above pieces yet I like it, it makes me feel warm.

Is it Spring Yet? - Daily Photo 47/365

Another absolutely gorgeous day - 60 degrees by 9:00 a.m.!  Wanting to go some place different for pictures I went to a local greenbelt and it was the perfect place, for me anyway.

The Stones River - this area was completely under water last May in our 1000 Year Flood and there's still evidence of that destruction.

That is our blue sky in the background...I told you it's been a beautiful day.

Nuts & Bark - Daily Photo 46/365

Another beautiful day today, I think it hit 60 degrees, so I went looking for some images.

It's a simple thing but I don't remember the last time I saw so many acorns in one place.  The ground was covered with them and this is just a small sampling.

Makes me wonder where all the squirrels are, have they already stored up all that they want?

No matter how many times I see it, the bark on a birch tree fascinates me.

The various hues, the curls, the thickness - or thinness of the bark...
